I recently went to a networking event and the guest speaker was a woman named Anna Mason who is a specialist in health and productivity.

She was speaking on a subject that's very important to me: health and fitness.

Anna presented loads of great tips on how people in business can be healthier so I asked her to write a post for my blog. Hope this helps:

(Because you're probably busy and don’t have the time for ten!)

Being self-employed it is an easy mistake to focus all your time and energy on your company and neglect your own personal needs.

As many of us know the pressures of running a business are considerable, and there is often no let up.

However, it is important to remember that it becomes increasingly harder to work to the best of your abilities if you lead an unhealthy lifestyle.

Let’s take a look at what you can do to stay healthy, happy and productive:

Five Top Tips to improve your health and productivity
Five Top Tips to improve your health and productivity

1. Exercise
Don’t spend too much time in the gym.

You don’t need to spend an hour on the treadmill when 15 to 20 minutes of interval training will do it.

Work hard for a short space of time, this will help to build muscle, kick in the endorphins and burn fat.

Interval training is the way to go for fat loss and time poor people.

2. Diet
To stay healthy a good diet is crucial to your lifestyle.

However, you may find that it is difficult to eat well at work, especially if you eat at your desk or between meetings.

Ditch the junk food and eat three meals plus two healthy snacks per day.

3. Food
Remove all the processed foods from your diet.

Processed foods make you fat and sluggish.

Eat fresh fruit and vegetables, lean protein fish, meat, eggs and cheese (in moderation).

Drink between 1.5 and 2 litres of water per day.

Reduce your tea and coffee to just a couple of cups per day.

4. Attitude
Attitude plays an important role in fat loss, exercise and a healthy lifestyle.

If you carry on doing the same things you will get the same results, we all know that.

A change of lifestyle requires effort and a positive attitude.

5. Forward planning
This is the biggest and best tip.

Improving your health and productivity requires forward planning.

Invest ten minutes per day into planning your food and your exercise.

This is what you do every day to ensure the smooth running of your business.

Plan it, buy it, eat it…be healthier and run a fitter business as a result.
